Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please email or call Dr. Faber directly. You can expect to hear back within 48 hours.

  • During the first session, the primary goal is to gain a deeper and clearer understanding of the factors that brought you to therapy. The therapist will typically ask more direct and focused questions during this initial session compared to later sessions, as their goal is to gather detailed information and begin to get to know you better. Additionally, there will be time set aside for you to ask any questions you may have about the process or the therapy itself. The first session usually lasts about 60 minutes, while all subsequent sessions are generally scheduled for 50 minutes each. In cases involving child or adolescent therapy, the therapist will often hold one or two sessions with the parents before meeting the child or adolescent to better understand the family context and concerns.

  • Treatment can last anywhere from a few weeks to several months or even years. The therapist carefully determines the appropriate length of treatment by continuously assessing the patient’s symptoms, as well as their social-emotional well-being and daily functioning throughout the entire course of therapy.

  • Dr. Faber’s practice offers a diverse range of therapeutic techniques, including both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies. The choice of treatment modality and therapist assignment carefully depends on the specific presenting symptomatology of each individual patient. Therapists frequently combine tools and techniques drawn from various theoretical orientations, tailoring their approach in an effort to effectively relieve symptoms, enhance overall functioning, and support patients in gaining deeper insight into their own mental health and wellbeing.
